| Sunday 14th Dec | 2008 Christmas picnic The MBCNSW christmas picinic, is an event at which members of the club, and their families, come together in the spirit of christmas. The christmas picnic has been held at a variety of locations accross Sydney and Sanata Claus is always on hand to pass out some presents to the children. The christmas picnic will be held at, The Pavilion, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park at Bobbin Head. There is a National Parks entrance fee of $11.00 per car. Adults $15.00 Children free. Drop your top again - the twilight zone It's back by popular demand, a night of cars and stars for Mercedes-Ladies and Men-in-Benz. This will be a roof-down, night-time drive designed especially for cabriolets and roadsters, but open to everybody. If you can see the stars through your sunroof, windscreen or windows then come along.! We have implemented several new concepts for this event based on your feedback from the last one. If you thought the February event was cool, then you'll love this one. Meet us, 6.30pm, Wings Chinese restaurant, 1st floor, Canada Bay Club for an early dinner. Gather in the car park at 7.45pm for an 8.00pm depart. Back at the club about 10.00pm for coffee and cake. |

Concours d'Elegance 2008 Presentation Dinner This is our annual black tie event, at which awards are presented by the MBCNSW, to the class winners of the MBCNSW 2008 Concours d"Elegance, and to the people and organizations who have assisted the club during the year. The Concours d'Elegance 2008 presentation dinner, will be held from 7.00pm until 12midnight, on Saturday, 25 October, 2008, at Cropley House, Watkins Rd, Baulkham Hills. This year our cabaret show will feature the award winning Belinda Adams. A limited number of tickets at $73.00 (seventy three dollars) per person, are available by contacting Jenny Flemming, 02-9894-4504 or 0418-968-324. It is anticipated these tickets will sell very fast indeed. |

Mid-Week Drive with Thoroughbred Sports Car Club On this run we will start on Sydney Harbour and tour the historic gun fortifications at Lower Georges Heights. We will then convoy north via the Ku-ring-gai National Park and end up at Bilgola for lunch on the beach. Meet at The Barn Café, 1100 Middle Head Road Mosman from 9.30am onwards. Enter from Middle Head Road into Best Ave. There is ample parking. After coffee we will walk down to the lookout at Georges Heights where there are commanding views of the outer Sydney harbour to be had. This will be followed @ 10.15am by a guided tour of the old underground tunnels where the batteries were placed and the ammunition and charges were stored. We are asked to bring a hat, sunscreen and wear suitable walking shoes. We need our own torches for the tunnel tour. The 1.5 hour tour includes stairs, a steepish bush track and 15 minutes in dark under ground tunnels. The tour concludes at Chowder Bay. There is then a climb back uphill to our cars. Costs: - Georges Height Tour $8 per person - Ku-ring-gai Park $11 per car - Lunch, two courses with choice $30 per person. BYO and glasses. 2008 Shannons Eastern Creek Classic This is an exciting event for all the family. Not only will there be cars from the MBCNSW, but over 1800 cars, from virtually every car type you can imagine. But it is not just limited to cars, there will also trucks and buses and who knows what else. Those club members who display their cars, will also be entitled to a number of parade laps around the race circuit, behind the pace car. Our allocated time is 10.00am for the parade laps. Highway to Haven Join fellow club members and Mercedes-Benz enthusiasats, as we make our way to "The Haven" on the Central Coast, via quiet backroads, country lanes, mountain passes, and even some open freeway. There is no resturant booking for lunch, but our position at "The Haven" is perfect for a family picnic or barbeque. The famous shopping and cafes of Terrigal are but a short stroll away. Detailing Workshop The car detailing Day will be held at Auto Salon d'Elegance, 9 Rawson St Auburn, phone 9649 3000. On the day you will not only be shown what expected of your car, but also how to prepare your car, to a Concours standard. This day is very informative day indeed. 2008 National Motoring Heritage Day In 2008 the MBCNSW will participate in the National Motoring Heritage Day by joining the Rolls-Royce Club of NSW for a joint drive. Join us for a drive to the Blue Mountains where we’ll take in the beautiful scenery and autumn colours on our way to the Mount Tomah Botanic Garden, a splendid setting for our majestic cars. Breakfast Drive to Central Coast Join us for a leisurely Sunday morning Observation Drive north to the Central Coast, where we’ll enjoy a hot and cold buffet breakfast at the spectacular Ettalong Beach Club. The Club is nestled right on the waterfront at Ettalong Beach, overlooking Broken Bay and Lion Island, with views south to Palm Beach. Following Breakfast, there will be an optional excursion through the Central Coast, with a visit to the Japanese Gardens at Gosford. Round trip approximately 200kms. | Sunday 6th | Show & Shine Day Mathew Kean, the 126 and 202 registrar of the MBCNSW, is organizing a “Show and Shine” day at the carpark of the Canada Bay Club, William St, Fivedock. He would like to see your Mercedes-Benz, regardless of its age, model or condition at the event. There will be cars from the 1950's through to the current day. If it does, or did have, a star on the front then he wants to see it there. This is shaping up to be a huge event.
