Installing new ignition lock/tumbler in W124 300E
«

Has anyone had any experience installing a new ignition lock in a W124, or a W126 or W201 for that matter, as i believe they are the same?
Any bits of advice, photos, scans of manuals would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Shane

It's not too difficult if the barrel hasn't failed and the key still turns. If it doesn't will my friend patience is a must to say the least having done one in my old 190E. If you PM me email address I will scan the removal process from my technical manual and e-mail it to you.
Cheers Mat.

shane,
I had this prob not long ago. there is some info on this site. I used a wire coat hanger cut it and bent it into shape .filed the edges put it into the barrel and wallaa out came the barrell, with the key in of cause.Put the new barrel in drove to the lock smith took it out and got them to "key the barrell " to my old key so that the doors and boot and ingition had the same key .I caught it just in time as it all falled apart as i took it out the last time . It was close as if you can't get the key in ,your in trouble..dont leave it too long before fixing
