It was great to attend the Shannons German Autofest including the Mercedes-Benz Club of the ACT concours in Canberra yesterday. Many members of the ACT, NSW and Victorian clubs attended as did several members of this forum.

It was very nice to meet "aussie drop top" (Colin and Sharon) in person and see their 124 series 320CE cabriolet (in one of my favourite colour schemes -  malachite green with mushroom leather). Also good to see some of the newer members including "Delilah" (Vince) and "380SL" (Peter) each with their 107 series SL. Both these cars have undergone changes since the NSW concours just a fortnight prior. "Delilah", a 350SL, now has original steel wheels and the period wheel covers in red to match the car and "380SL" took on board criticisms of an otherwise very nice SL following the NSW concours and displayed the correct alloy wheels and bootlid without high-mount stop light allowing a class win among other awards, a great effort!

Whilst I don't have results to hand, I know "Sonia" (Sonia and Rob) won their class in their 220SE cabriolet, "mfleming" (Mike) won his class with his 400SEL, and "MR028" (Matthew) won his road class section with his E220 coupe and we were fortunate to win the W124/201 class with our 300TE. Ray and Clare from NSW (not on the forum yet as far as I know) won Champion of Champions with their 123 series 280CE. Apologies to any I have missed as I know our club took many of the awards. Hopefully the results will be made available on the web soon.

Many other NSW members attended, some entering their cars for judging, some there simply to look at the cars and enjoy the company. Others I can remember from this forum were "oz coz", "Barrow" and "Graham". Unfortunately "Mathew" did not attend so I have yet to get a good look of his newly acquired E220 cabriolet. The day was run successfully by forum sponsor John Green of MB Spares with his team from the ACT MB club.

Thanks for an enjoyable day.

Well said Greg! A great summary.

Thanks for the kind words. Both myself & Joe (West Star Auto) enjoyed the day, Joe also won his class 116 series. Well done Joe!
Congratulations to all class winners especially those who travelled from Victoria & NSW to participate.

What about that yellow 190 SL "GEMSL" the plate says it all.
What a shame that it did not make it to the NSW Concour, a truly unbelievable example. Well done Wayne, Just Magic!
It's only another 3 hrs up the road so hope we see it next year.

The rain God's were also kind, saving us from a big wet till the journey home.

Well done to John and the team of MB Spares and the ACT Club for hosting such a great event. Only have one request that we try and get the same coffee vendor back next year, she made great coffee!

Oh, did I say the view was fantastic also!

Cheers

Sorry for forgetting to mention Joe's class win with his very clean white W116 280SEL, I remember it well.

That 190SL is very good although I can't help but think to myself "if only he had painted it an original period colour". As exterior judge that was about the only issue I could deduct any points on. He admitted to me that it was not an original colour but if it that colour had been requested from new it would have been possible. His reason for the colour? It is what he wanted. Hey! I've no argument with that. Despite any slight points loss it was still good enough to win outright.
