I have managed to find some replacement aluminium boot trim for the 560 SEC, however whilst it is straight it also has quite a few scratches.
Does anyone know where it can be refurbished, preferably in Sydney?
I have searched the forum but there doesn't seem to be a specific recommendation for this type of work.

Hi Nik,

Apparently early last year there was a tech day at Villawood as per below
http://www.mbcnsw.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,4215.0.html so possibly a place to call.

Also I remember a post by Delilah (Vince) in reference to a place in Castlehill that does non metal type chrome work so possibly PM him.
Good luck and remember to put up the pre and post pictures for us.

If you wipe it over with WD40 it will look great for a week - or you can wipe it over with Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil Gun Stock Finish, which is supposed to last up to 12 months.

Other options would be to obtain a new part from a MB dealership, or have chrome vapor deposited on the current piece, as I do not know of any platers / chromers that will chrome aluminium.

Nik, you need to see Sam Movizio and ask if Bob can do his magic on it for you.

Worked for me!!

Thanks for the info, I have also got a contact through a local panelbeater that I will check out. I'm looking to finish all the remaining work on the car by Feb so I will keep you posted.

I managed to find a place that does Aluminium trim, they are called Moulding Repair & Polishing and are in Riverwood, 02 98381175.

They did a good job at a reasonable price.

Indeed... Alan and Irene McCoy run a great little setup with many many years experience.
