1350 classic (over 30 years old) vehicles were on show throughout Macquarie, College and Hunter Streets, of course, getting that many cars into place by 10am caused its usual few mini traffic jams (only to be expected when you ask vehicles up to 100 years old to sit in the warm sun for a while!) but congratulations to NRMA, who did a marvellous job putting this mega event together!

Our fearless leader was unable to join us for the day, so it was up to yours truly to field enquiries from the masses, ably assisted by our New Members officer Tony Povey and boy, did they keep us busy, a steady flow of admiring fans all day, people wanting to find out info about the club, people asking about our cars and even someone with a Pagoda for sale!

Plenty of members and old friends popped in to see us, Joe Zarb jogged up the hill from the Quay to see us, Claus and Wendy dropped by, as did Matthew Ritchard and others, Eric Lang from the Rolls Royce Club came by and Sam Movizio was as busy as a bee!

All this made for a great day, I was sorry to have to start my engine to go home, but there's always next year!

(sorry, no pics, too busy to take any!)

Yours Truly

1350 cars on display it was only a small turn out then.
 Wink

There are 6 photos of Mercedes on the Cars of Australia website I was looking at the photos last night.

I did recongise 1 Mercedes in the photos a Member of this Forum may recongise his car?

The NRMA Motorfest does look to have been a great event.

2011 I will come along to the Motorfest for sure.

Cheers.

Some photos from NRMA Motorfest, which was bigger and better than ever.

For the first time, an SEC was on display at Motofest:

Great photos MR028.

The silver Alfa-Romeo very impressive I have never seen that particular model Alfa before.

Beautifully looking Rolls Royce and Jaguars on display.

Was there a black S280 in attendance named the "Black Princess"?

Just looking at the photos I wish I was there.

There is always next year for certain.

Cheers.

The silver Alfa is a Montreal, nice car!
As is the Ferrari Daytona.
The brown metallic SLC is for sale, last I spoke to him he was asking $27k!
When I told him I was asking half that for mine (parked next to his at the time) he mumbled "well I don't care if it doesn't sell" and stalked off.
But how come all the Mercs photographed have add-on chrome wheel arch trims?
Were there none there in original condition?

With the exception of the silver 280SE 3.5 sedan, no. That said, I believe that the chrome wheel arches on the 220SE may be original? I believe 300SE's certainly had  them as standard. That SLC was lovely. The first thing I would do would be to rid it of those ugly chrome wheel arch trims, however.

It was interesting to note yesterday that chrome wheel arch trims don't afflict other old cars nearly as much as they do Mercedes....

Thanks Tim. The Alfa in question was the "Montreal" from 1974. A great looking car for sure. There were two there, this is the other one:
