Has anyone had any experience in repairing or information on the Active Body Control fitted to later CL and S Class cars? My CL600 needs work on this. It is a major fault with these models. Benzworld forum is full of people complaining about it but short on suggestions.
Any help or references appreciated (will post photos of the beast soon) ...... Eddy (NZ)

PS - luckily I have a 3 year mechanical insurance - an absolute must with this type of car as MB try out all their new ideas first in their flagship CL models.

Eddy, is the problem a leaking strut or electrical control?

Eddy,

If I may suggest, why don't you try Harry on,

northshoremcc@xtra.co.nz

MB factory trained on these, ex workshop Forman for NZL's largest dealership, 18 years with Benz.

He will point you in the right direction if he won't do it himself.

Let us know how you get on, Inspector.

Still after a drivers seat from a 2 door 124, electric, heated, creme beige leather. Hoping some might be available after the storms......?? Please PM me if you know where I might be able to get one - cheers.

Thanks - I will keep his e-mail on file - but that is a 6 hour drive and I would have to get the car trailered for fear of it dropping on to the wheel arches. We have a brilliant young guy here in Palmerston North called Lester Gribble (Autotorque Ltd), He works from home and assures me he can fix anything Merc. I have seen him recondition auto gearboxes from a spotless bench in his workshop. He is also familiar with all V12 engines. I have filled a disc of info about the ABC for him as well (from Benzworld forum).
If anyone knows of a website or other source of info I could use - I would appreciate it. ....... cheers ....... Eddy

PS - the problem (I think) is a leaking HP hose as I can see one with a few drips under it at the front of the engine.

Give him a call Eddie, he's fixed many of them. First hand experience is always a bonus......

Eddy, if it's only a leaking hose there should be any number of hose specialists in NZ that can make a replacement to fit, but they need to be specialists and get the fittings correct. A distributor replacement may be 5 times the price, but at least you know its the correct item and will fit without thread problems.
